Do you ever have trouble sleeping?

I think we’ve all been there are some stage. Too much going on in our minds, or maybe it was something you ate or drank? Here are some ideas to have you sleeping soundly in no time.

Movement – Moving is a wonderful way to release tension and get get your body and mind ready for rest. Gentle stretching unwinds the days efforts and relaxes muscles that will feel better when you get into bed. Below is a little video for you enjoy in the evening.

Breathing – Becoming mindful of your breath, and consciously slowing down your breathing pattern can bring peace and calmness. Try breathing in for 1-2 counts, then out for 1-2 counts. Then its in for 1-2-3 counts and out for 1-2-3 counts. Continue until you breath slowly in for 6 or 7 counts. Remember to breathe all the air out of you as you exhale and feel your body expand with the inhale.

 

Switch off – at least half and hour before bed, dim your lights and switch off devices. This ritual gives you time to unwind as you switch off mentally.

 

Look at the stars! – I’ve taken to this lately. Even in the freezing cold of Queenstown night time. A few moments , just to step outside and look up. It’s so worth it.
